Communicating and Walking with God

Back in 1991, during our first evangelistic meeting in Moscow, Russia, I remember well a handsome young university student asking me, "How can I pray to a God that I'm not even sure exists?" I told him what I've told thousands of people. "Listen to the evidence of archaeology, prophecy, and history, and then make your decision."

Happily, this young atheist, with hundreds of others, did listen and accept the evidence.

If you are like this young man, and would like to believe but have doubts and questions, then I would like to suggest you order John's videos on archaeology, prophecy, and history.

The amazing facts presented on these videos have given faith and hope to millions of ex-atheistic Communists in the former Soviet Union. These people heard, believed, and now have a daily experience with God -- an experience that supplies them with hope, joy, and courage as they continue to face a distressing and sometimes despairing situation in their part of the world.

Now they believe the words of Jesus, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."  -- John 3:16

This tells us that the death of Jesus on the cross sets us free from guilt and sin, and this in turn gives us the promise of our inheritance.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." -- John 14:1-3

So, no matter what happens to us or around us, we who believe have a hope and a joy that nobody can take away.  If you don't have this hope and confidence, but would like to have it, I would like to say a prayer for you.

Prayer Example

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for being a reasonable and loving God. We thank you for your words in Isaiah 1:18 -- "Come now, let us reason together." You don't expect us to believe in just hearsay; instead you invite us to read, listen, and study the evidence and then make up our minds. Thank you, Father, for giving us minds that can reason and think. Please help us to be completely honest in our reasoning and thinking. Guide and bless us with truth as we continue to pray and walk with you.

We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Prayer Tip: Prayer is not monologue, but dialogue; God's voice is it's most essential part. Listening to God's voice is the secret of the assurance that He will listen to mine. ~Andrew Murray
