SCHOOL OF PRAYER (Lesson # 4):

Claiming God’s Promises

By Beverley Carter

In times of trials and uncertainty, here are some great promises from which we can gain comfort and assurance that God will never leave us. Use them in your prayers, and trust God to be faithful to His promises.
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments." – Deuteronomy 7:9
We Say
God Says
It’s impossible.
All things are possible.
“Jesus replied, ‘What is impossible with men is possible with God.’” – Luke 18:27
I can’t forgive myself.
I forgive you.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9
Nobody really loves me.
I love you.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
I can’t figure things out.
I will direct your steps.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
I can’t do it.
You can do all things.
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13
I’m not able.
You are able—through Me.
“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” – 2 Corinthians 9:8
I can’t manage.
I will supply all your needs.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
I’m afraid.
I have not given you a spirit of fear.
“For God did not give us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
It’s not worth it.
It will be worth it.
“For I reckon that the suffering of this present time is not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” – Romans 8:18
I can’t go on.
My grace is sufficient.
“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
I feel all alone.
You are never alone.
“…I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5
“…I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” – Matthew 28:20
